Had two emails within the last two days that make me wonder if I have, perhaps…been a little too pointed, shall we say…in some of my, um…analyses?
One writer said that Tracey Allen’s quote in the Header should read: “READING THE ANCHORESS…IS LIKE A PERSONAL FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION – CRACKLING, EXHILARATING AND SLIGHTLY DANGEROUS…careful you don’t put your eye out…”
Another gent, inviting me to stop by his website for his numerous posts about the Pope, added with a wince, “Feel free to post on any errors. (But please don’t treat me like you treat that poor Mareen Dowd creature!)”
Yikes! All this time, I thought I was merely being upfront and honest, rather like Lizzy Bennet in Pride and Prejudice who, when told she was hard on the members of her own sex responded, “I speak as I find…”
Ah, well, if I’m not quite Lizzy, these are not quite such demure days, either…but I will try to get over to his site and read his posts, sometime today…I’d post the link right now, but he might not appreciate it since I have revealed his cowardly snivelling request!! (I tease, I tease! I’m sure he was only joking…)
However, perhaps I SHOULD be concerned about my manner. Greg Wallace over at What Attitude Problem has posted one of those internet tests asking What Sci-fi character are you?. It seems I am ELROND…how boring!
“A stern yet benevolent organizer who often knows best, your wits are keenly fixed on aiding efforts you deem worthy.”
Apparently a famous quote from ELROND is: “Now at this last we must take a hard road, a road unforseen. There lies our hope, if hope it be. To walk into peril to Mordor.”
More troubling…my son Buster is Anakin Skywalker…you know…eventually becomes Darth Vader. Troubling…
I wish I could say I liked the LOTR trilogy. I thank God I was neither that twee little dweeb Pippen, nor Smeigel, though! :-)
UPDATE: After reading the inelegant behavior of John Fund toward a blogger I don’t feel so bad. I’m a nobody. Fund is a “somebody.” You’d think he’d wear it with a little more grace. Doverspike handled it well, though. Hattip: Bill Quick at Daily Pundit.
