Isn’t all this “loyalty” considered “scary” in W-Land? 2015-04-15T04:46:20+00:00

I mean, really – if you want to talk about blaring double standards, here you’ve got it!

Leaks? Public skirmishes? None of this tends to happen in Hillaryland, as Mrs. Clinton’s advisers call the inner circle, mostly because the people who have gained entry into this exclusive club have shown strict devotion to her through the years, including her darkest days in public life.
In fact, political strategists say they are struck by the similarities between Mrs. Clinton’s inner circle and the team surrounding President Bush, who has placed a premium on loyalty since his days as governor of Texas and whose lieutenants are known for falling in lockstep behind him.

“Both operations make the papal conclave look like a bunch of free talkers,” said Chris Lehane, a Democratic strategist, referring to the Bush and Clinton camps. “I mean that in a positive way, because that is the type of discipline it takes to win.”

Hmmmm…so for five years we’ve been hearing that the Bush team is “scary, like nazis, like Darth Vader types” because they are loyal and don’t leak.

But, suddenly, if the same culture exists around Hillary Clinton, “this is a POSITIVE THING!” No Nazis! No Emperor’s theme!

Amazing.

The strict devotion that Mrs. Clinton engenders may stem from the fact that her advisers genuinely like her and describe working for her not so much as a job as a cause.

But..but…that sort of Moral Certainty is “bad,” right? Isn’t that something we’re supposed to be afraid of??? I mean, Bush’s advisors like him, too, and we’ve been told that they look at their work as not so much a job as a CAUSE. Ohhhhhh….that’s really, REALLY bad! Mommy, I’m scared!

Oh, wait. No. This is Hillaryland. That’s now all good and admirable stuff.

The article has a flaccid ending that makes you realize it was about nothing at all, that the whole piece was nothing more than a “get ready, get set, HILLARY!” piece, part and parcel of the NY Times’s commitment to Daily Hillary – the precurser to All Hillary All the Time, which we can expect to erupt into full fire and passion after Labor Day.

Like Hillary, this piece actually says nothing.
