Air America story still roundly ignored

Air America story still roundly ignored 2017-03-16T17:08:59+00:00

No longer a “fake” story, but the mainstream press is still not picking up on it. I asked my journalist pal what he thought and he said, “It’s a non-story because no one listens to Air America and who didn’t expect Al Franken to be involved in something sleazy. If this involved Rush Limbaugh it would be a story because he has a huge audience and if he did something naughty it would be more surprising.”

Okay, I don’t want to harass him, but I’m not totally buying it. Taking money meant for poor minority kids and old folks to pay off bigtime employees is wrong, no matter how big or small the audience is, and our mainstream media – hot to moralize whenever the bad guy is on the right – has a responsibility to report on this story.

That said…the go-to people on it, if you have not already read them, are Ed Morrissey who has good stuff in his blog and also at the Daily Standard on this story and particularly on how the MSM is ignoring what they would normally call a “perfect storm.” Michelle Malkin also has an awfully well-researched piece wherein she wonders why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson who would normally (and quite rightly) be making noise about this misuse of funds are so silent. Turns out “it’s all about the Benjamins.” Brian Maloney, who broke the story, is using it as a jumpoff point to look at other stories the MSM finds uninteresting.

I’ve always found it fascinating that the same press who routinely refers to President Bush as “incurious” has so little curiousity whenever a story unfolds about one of their own. They never did care about John Kerry’s service record, and their golden children at Air America never cause a raised eyebrow, either. Amazing.

Austin Bay has more.
