The sun goes solar minimal

The sun goes solar minimal July 25, 2007

I wonder…hmmm…could it possibly be?

The sun calms down and the weather cools down.

A link, you think?

And to those who emailed me about the flooding in Britain, offering it as evidence of “weird” weather caused by global warming, I ask only this: if this is the worst flooding in the UK in 60 years, what was going on 60 years ago that caused it back then? And do you remember the great Mississippi flood of 1993?

Weather happens. Floods and heat waves happen. So do cooler periods. It’s been the way of the world for a long, loooong time…perhaps only our age is conceited enough to believe that a) we actually are more powerful than the mechanics of the universe and b) anything we attempt can subdue nature.

Not only is there nothing new about the news…there is nothing new under the sun, either, except perhaps our own illusions about ourselves, grown to startling new heights.
