Yesterday morning I just couldn’t bear to sit here and read any more news, so I took a drive out to the farm stands (one must go further and further east to find real farms, anymore) and came back with some beautiful tomatoes that smelled heavenly, gorgeous grapes and lettuces and a few zucchini for bread-making.
The tomatoes have been calling me, so this afternoon I sliced one beauty up and added a bit of romaine and a touch of mayo to the rye bread to make my childhood favorite (yes, I like tomato sandwiches, shut up!).
At the last minute, I spied some brie cheese in the fridge, sliced a bit and added it to the tomatoes…sigh. Sheer heaven.
Topping it off right now with a cup of Mystic Monk Coffee – the splendidly rich Hazelnut flavor.
And it looks like a thunderstorm is brewing, so I think I’ll take my coffee and breviary out to the porch to watch it. I know, you really don’t care; you just want to read more politics, more headlines, more stuff that will just aggravate you. I have about 30 tabs open on my computer right now – lots of great stuff for you to read, some of it not even political.
But the porch beckons. Come on, it is summer, after all!
