October is my birthday month and I am 51. It is also our Wedding Anniversary month; we are married 27 years.
Both hubby and I are deeply in need of some time away from our respective daily grinds -I frankly cannot read or write another word of news, stagecraft and revealed lies. He cannot stand another droning meeting or another day of deadlines and incessant beeping. We’re very grateful to be able to earn our livings -and we love our jobs- but between beepers, emails, teleconferences, blackberries, IM’s and so forth, it feels like there is never any time off; we are always at work. Everyone needs a little downtime, sometimes, and though we can’t take a whole year off, like this fellow, we’re calling it for ourselves, from now until Monday.
We’re shutting down over here, therefore, and dedicating the next four days to long drives with no radio, no news, no beepers, no meetings. I have a cold, but I’m going anyway and packing extra kleenex! I’ve scheduled some “oldies” to go up at random times over the next few days, so please check back!
I have not yet decided if I am going to turn off comments until I return. I may, if only to cut down on spam while I’m gone. And because so many of you will try to leave an unembedded url, and end up in the spam filter, which I know you won’t like. You can practice making a link using this handy tutorial if you like. If I can do it, anyone can!
Isn’t that cake gorgeous? You can find some really astonishingly clever designs at Pink Cake Box (and no, Mr. Government, I do not receive any sort of kickback, monetary or calorie-laden for mentioning Pink Cake Box. They don’t know me and I don’t know them; I just think their work is lovely.) Isn’t it sad that people can’t simply just pass along interesting/useful tidbits anymore?
See…I really need this break! My husband is a gem, a jewel!! Back on Monday. Night.
