Remember the stories about how under Governor Palin rape victims were charged for the rape kits used to gather evidence? Yeah, that was all wrong, as usual. Bob Owens gets it right:
We have fresh information regarding poorly-researched claims made in the media (including CNN, US News & World Report, USA Today, Chicago Tribune, the Associated Press, and literally dozens of other “professional media”) that Sarah Palin presided over a Wasilla, AK city government that charged rape victims for the forensic medical examinations designed to collected physical evidence of sexual assaults. With very little variation from one media source to the next, media accounts attempted to portray Palin as a callous monster out to re-abuse victims.
The best evidence available indicates these are entirely false claims.
Actually, since then Bob has even more to back up his point.
This charge is sort of like the egregious and despicable “joke” that the Palin family is incestuous: “there is no evidence that it is; but there is no evidence that it isn’t.” Just another one of those instances where the press makes a charge and then smiles venomously and says, “prove us wrong!”
Does it remind you of high school? It does me! This does, too, CNN referring to Palin’s brief meetings with various world leaders as “speed dating”. If only she’d made a big show of traveling around with an entourage and making a big speech somewhere historic – then maybe the press would be duly impressed.
The woman has been on the national stage for three weeks, and already she has need of a full-time-lie-debunker!
As High School as it gets: And dangerously so, Caroline Glick writes about the opportunity lost – and it was an important one – because the Democrats had to play politics about speaking against Iran at the UN.
Yes, it was high-school. Think about it. Two girls get invited to speak at the assembly, the Prom Queen and the Homecoming Princess. Prom Queen doesn’t like Homecoming Princess, so she makes an excuse not to be near her, then gets the whole assembly to change the rules so that no one speaks out about an important issue. And the excuse given is that the truly bi-partisan event was turned into a “partisan” one by the Prom Queen’s actions. Yes, as high-school as it gets.
I just love Glenn Reynolds’ comment on the double-standard of expectations for Palin vs Biden. Jonah Goldberg has a pithy observation, too.
More High School:
Press has hissyfit at not being admitted into Palin meetings. Press does not have hissyfit when Obama takes private meetings.

And of course, changing the meaning of everything if Palin does not fit your template.
At Pajamas Media, Mike Shelton says Paline needs to do more with what she has. I say, “let Palin be Palin!”
Meanwhile – just to note it – Ed Morrissey says Obama seems seriously adrift…possibly because this story finally made it to the mainstream media, but only as far as the Wall Street Journal.
