Jeanette is good enough to keep the updates coming and she points us to Truthseeker’s own very sad post on the five siblings killed in last week’s horrific head-on collision between trucks. If you didn’t read it, this is fascinating: Israeli archaeologists said they have discovered what may be the oldest Christian church in the Holy Land on the grounds of a prison near the biblical site of Armageddon. The Israeli Antiquities Authority said the ruins are believed to date back to the third or fourth centuries and include references to Jesus and images of fish, an ancient Christian symbol. “This is a very ancient structure, maybe the oldest in our area,”... Read more

…WHEN? The CIA conduct in this matter is either a brilliant covert action against the White House or inept intelligence tradecraft. It is up to Congress to decide which. Speaking of when… WHEN will the Bush administration start fighting back against this and against the ongoing narrative that this administration – and only this administration – lied (didn’t “get wrong” or “believe the same intelligence as the previous administration”) but “lied” to get us into war. They’re going to have... Read more

It’s time to seriously look at the CIA, and to who it was who put – apparently – operations and agents at serious risk. Only seems right, given that the non-outting of non-covert Valerie Plame has generated a two year investigation and thousands of news articles. Those darn leakers! They are so troublesome! As we remember here, when a leaked memo between members of the intelligence committee, which discussed ways to take down the president caused such consternation within the... Read more

I wonder if we’ll see his fakeness on page one, above the fold now that it is clear he is a fake. Ron Harris asks, Why did the press swallow Massey’s stories?. Editors at some papers look back at the Massey articles and are surprised that they ran them without examining whether the claims were true or without ever asking the Marine Corps about them. “I’m looking at the story and going, ‘Why, why would we have run this without... Read more

What I am afraid will happen is that the French authorities will apply the worst possible combination: a short-term crackdown based on profiling together with an agreement to cede the governance of these ghettos to some kind of Islamic councils. That will make the banlieus more opaque while at the same time making them more alien. Yet the attraction of this policy mix is obvious. It throws a bone to the extreme right and left wings of French policy and... Read more

Azerbaijan, that is. Funnily enough, no one seeking freedom holds up a picture of Chirac, or Castro, or Chavez, or either Clinton, or Annan, or Kerry or the little shoemaker in Spain. They don’t look to Italy or Canada, either. Read more

Okay, 3-2-1, Let’s Jam! Egad, but Yoko Kanno is an absolute genius. I can’t think of a better composer, male or female, writing jazz charts and blues bits and pop…my kids first got me interested in this really superb and moody anime cartoon because they played the television so loud and the music was so completely great, that I peek in, next thing I know, I’m hooked. A great series…made even greater by the spectacular soundtrack. Buster bought the soundtrack... Read more

I know I said I wasn’t blogging this weekend, and I am not – but I was sent an email about Jimmie’s nomination request and just had to do it. I’m talking about Aaron’s terrific plan to issue a “Blogger Deck O’ Cards” – hopefully in time for Christmas??? Inspired by Hugh Hewitt’s lamenting the absense of Hallmark Cards for bloggers and anticipating the receipt of cease and desist letters due to violating trademarks for well-known games, I’m announcing the... Read more
