Dribs and Drabs, Vol. 2
  • I really enjoyed Simcha Fisher’s latest article for America Magazine, It’s O.K. to complain about the demands of faith. But how you vent matters. I’ve noticed the tendency she speaks of in Facebook groups and online forums before. As an admin of a large Facebook group, the “health” of the group is something I try to always be cognizant of — I want my group to be a place of support, encouragement, and affirmation, but I also want it to be a place where women are challenged to deepen their relationship with God, and overcome the habits and patterns that draw them away from Christ and the Church.

  • A secular but employment-related podcast I really enjoy is the Ask a Manager podcast by Alison Green. I’m a longtime reader of her blog, which has provided me with lots of great advice regarding job-hunting, resumes, and cover letters. I’m very much looking forward to her upcoming book**.

  • A fellow CWM member is sending me a copy of The Awakening of Miss Prim**. I’m so excited to read it! I’ve heard so many good things about this book but haven’t yet been able to get it from the library. Have you read it? If so, did you enjoy it? (No spoilers, please!)

  • Another book on my nightstand right now is this biography of St. Gianna**, written by her husband Pietro. St. Gianna’s feast day is coming up (April 28), so it’s very timely reading! I own this biography** by Giuliana Pelucchi as well, which I highly recommend.
