priestly voodoo… 2017-01-25T19:41:04-05:00

… as promised.

The comment was prompted by a friend, and soon to be seminarian at Josephinum in Ohio, after he noted a pattern of behavior with the men in my life. Aside from the fact that I am amassing an ever growing circle of male friends who end up in seminary, I also have a unique effect on the man closest to me.

First, my son declares he wants to be a priest. This revelation was announced to the family after he attended the Pontifical Mass in DC this past April. So far he still firmly resolves to be a priest… three months later. That’s quite a commitment coming from a boy who wanted to be a cowboy, werewolf, astronaut country singer and ninja when he grew up. It changed every week.

Next, would be the obvious examples; all in the course of a year. The ex from last summer who sold his house and is now well into his novitiate process. Followed by a brief relationship with the “Non Catholic” who started going to RCIA and got involved with the local Franciscans, at my prompting, and has decided to discern the next phase of his life.

The on going joke for awhile was that I was the answer to the priest shortage…

ha. ha.

Of course I don’t actually think I had any profound influence in the matters. I just think I am drawn to over zealous uber Catholics… the ones like myself who are better equipped to tolerate me. The “Non Catholic” had pre-existing tendencies that I had nothing to do with. I swear it.
