11:11 – Lion Song
I have these two friends.
Brian and Jason.
They’re both among my desert island tribe. You know, like desert-island disks but with people. They are part of my sacred thread. I am so grateful for their friendship.
These men are such beautiful souls and such magnificent artists.
Back in the day, when they used to play together as “Harrod & Funck” they wrote a gorgeous song called “Lion Song.” Long been one of my favorites.
My new friend Mallory (see post below) was playing their song in her car when she picked me up to take me from the Comfort Inn to campus earlier this week.
I’d forgotten … how beautiful.
So I thought I’d post it here. In case you’d forgotten, too. Or never knew.
Lion Song
These two lions that I know,
As beautiful as they are strong,
Sleeping in each other’s arms. When the thunder rocks your bones,
And the night is cold and long,
Their jungle keeps you warm. When you go out on your boat,
And the wind is whipping you,
And you feel the water rising,See the line of blue on blue.
It’s given as a gift to you.
And keep your eyes on that horizon. When you go out on your horse,
And you hit a tangled course,
Feel the pressure underneath.See the green rush by your head.
You will break out, you will.
‘Neath you run some fleeter feet.‘Cause what have we not been given?
And what have we not been shown? These two lions that I know,
As beautiful as they are strong,
Sleeping in each other’s arms.So when the thunder rocks your bones,
And the night is cold and long,
Their jungle kept me.
