SORRY KIDS, NO COLUMN. BUT INSTEAD:
GOD GIRL FRIDAY! ON CNN, FOXNEWSCHANNEL

A flurry of last-minute activity just before Cathleen arrives in Ann Arbor, Michigan for an appearance with the amazing BRUCE COCKBURN at the Book Festival on Saturday:

2:20 p.m. (EST) FRIDAY on FoxNewsChannel: Cathleen will be interviewed live about The God Factor as well as a column she wrote a few months back about Oprah Winfrey and whether she’s become, ostensibly, “America’s pastor,” stepping into the kind of spiritual/culutural role that the Rev. Billy Graham played for earlier generations. Should be interesting . . .

11 p.m. (EST) FRIDAY on CNN: Cathleen will be one of the guests on the hour-long show “Showbiz Tonight,” discussing a recent USA Today article about the spiritual impact Oprah Winfrey has had on Americans (and others). Click HERE on Friday for more details. Read “The Divine Miss Winfrey” from USAToday (God Girl is quoted about half-way through …)

And if you’re in the neighborhood, please drop by the Ann Arbor Book Festival where:

at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 13 on the Shaman Drum Main Stage, Cathleen and Bruce will be talking Godstuff before a live audience, with a book (hers) and CD (his) signing to follow.

In other Michigan news, the Grand Rapids Press ran a nice little review of TGF recently and will be interviewing Cathleen while she’s in town early next week.

Here’s what the kind folks at the GRP had to say:

“Cathleen Falsani, of the Chicago Sun-Times, blends reporting and religion to create a multihued canvas on which personalities and faiths blend in amazing array. Dozens of interviews with such luminaries as Hugh Hefner, Hakeem Olajuwon, Anne Rice, Melissa Etheridge and Elie Wiesel illustrate how faith shapes them and our culture. Some offer controversial views of God, others provide unique interpretations of Scripture. Falsani leads with U2 lead singer Bono, whose words reveal Falsani’s quest: “To discover God in the places some people say God isn’t supposed to be.”
