B & A & O: Don’t Give Up, Africa
My Irish bruthafromanuthamutha was in Chicago last week to launch Product Red’s American campaign, and before shooting an INSPI(RED) shopping spree with the O down Michigan Avenue (in a freakish mid-October snow storm), a long, late lunch at NoMi, and an impromptu meeting with W on Marine One, Bono sang his wonderful adaptation of the Peter Gabriel/Kate Bush song, “Don’t Give Up” with Ms. Alicia Keys during the a.m. taping at Harpo Studios. A marvelous moment.
Reminds me of that passage from the Book of Ecclesiastes . . .
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Don’t give up, ’cause you have friends . . . Don’t give up, you still have us . . .
Lovely. Blessed. Blessings. Grateful.
