HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL: GO CUBBIES!

We’re headed to our first Cubs game of the season today. And we believe in the power of prayer, so here’s one for our beleaguered home team. May God have mercy on their soles.

A Prayer for the Cubs
(from www.fergiejenkinsfoundation.org)

Dear Lord,

If I should die before they win,
Oh how sad my life will have been.

Please dear Lord grant me this one thing,
Allow the Cubs a trophy home to bring.

Allow their bats to be oh so light,
Give them the will and give them the fight.

Please dear Lord help them out,
Give the fans something to cheer about.

The pitcher’s arm make swift and fast,
Erase the curse from out past.

Outstretch the outfielder’s arm,
And keep the score from any harm.

Oh Lord, put away your Yankees cap,
And put one on for Cubs Chap.

I am not the only one,
That wished the Cubs won.

Harry Carey has long since gone,
Sosa’s talent too is withdrawn.

What else have we got,
Then divine aid for this lot.

So I ask you Almighty,
Give the Cubs a title almighty.

And all the Cubs Association,
Will have a cause for jubilation.

Give them the World title,
For to me it is vital.

I can not rest,
If they are not the best.

So dear Lord, have mercy,
Remove the ol’ Cubs cursey.

Give us the big win,
And all the world shall grin.

So I ask you one last time,
Immortalize the Cubs on the World Series shrine.

And lets play ball!

Amen
