SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT

I just read a quote from one of the attendees at Ruth Bell Graham’s memorial service today (Saturday 6/15) in Montreat,North Carolina that made me stop, think and reevaluate.
It’s a challenge, both spiritually and socially, to be more than we are. To let it not be about us. To get out of our own way.

Speaking of the late Mrs. Graham, who passed into the next life on Thursday at the age of 87, Ruth Gleeson, 56, of Black Mountain, N.C. said (according to CNN.com):

“There is so much scandal in religion — particularly in the evangelical realm. For her, it was never about the ego. It was always about God. That’s really a rarity, and we have to honor that.”

Whoah. Take that in. “It was never about the ego. It was always about God.”

Truly words to live by.
