KNOWN as the Yorkshire Ripper who brutally murdered 13 women and later claimed that the ‘voice of God’ told him to kill prostitutes, Sutcliffe, above, said before he died today (Friday) of COVID-19 that, as a Jehovah’s Witness, all would be forgiven and he would go to heaven.
After he tested positive Sutcliffe, who killed his victims – not all sex workers – between 1975 and 1980, said he believed he was destined for to heaven if he dies because he had become a Jehovah’s Witness while serving life imprisonment.
The serial killer was in hospital with suspected heart problems, but returned to Frankland prison on Tuesday after five nights away.
Sutcliffe then started showing symptoms of Covid-19 on Thursday before prison medics at the top security prison in County Durham diagnosed him with the virus and he was moved into isolation,
Sutcliffe, who killed 13 women and attempted to kill seven more, claimed he’d “found God” several years ago.
A source told Chronical Live:
Peter has been really worried about coronavirus since the beginning of the year and has been very cautious. He has said it is deadly and terrifying.
But he has also been talking about how he believes he will go to heaven when he dies, so he’s not concerned about that.
The source added Sutcliffe believed all Jehovah’s Witnesses are guaranteed a place in heaven regardless of their past.
In his initial health scare last week that saw him rushed to A&E at the University Hospital of North Durham, he reportedly had both hands cuffed to a hospital bed and was being watched over by guards.
He was said to have been convinced at the time that he might also have contracted coronavirus but tested negative initially.
Sutcliffe’s health has been deteriorating for months and in recent days he’s said to have developed crushing chest pains.
He was understood to have been held in a private room on the cardiology ward at the hospital up until Tuesday, after being quickly transferred from the hospital wing at HMP Frankland.
He had refused to treatment for the virus.
