“This Present Moment Sucks” (A Song – Week 1 of “52 Makeup”)

For 2017, I’m challenging myself to create one piece of art a week: a poem, a song, a story, a drawing, a photo, a bit of digital art. This endeavor needed a name so I’m calling it “52 Makeup” (a pun on “52 Pickup“). For this first week, a song.

This Present Moment Sucks

You went to the guru and you asked him how
And he told you “It’s easy! Just live in the now.”
And that sounded pretty good when you meditated
But when you’re blissing out, you never anticipated
What it’d be like to be so down on your luck…

Turn on the TV to distract your mind

There’s always somebody sick, and somebody dying

The world that we live in is all out of joint
Sometimes you feel, hey, what’s the point
Sometimes you just want to say, “Fuck!
This present moment sucks!”
