Sunday Mornings

Sunday Mornings June 26, 2011

Early Sunday morning . . . the church is quiet, only people here at first are me and my faithful verger and good friend, who is always here very early, praying, working, getting things ready.  She brings an atmosphere of holiness and love into this place.

Today, we send the youth and the adult sponsors out on mission.  I am much in prayer for them.  Mission weeks can be life-changing and I trust this one will be.  A week to concentrate on serving others, bonding with the team, learning to get along with people in new and more intense ways.  Powerful days of discipleship.

Sundays . . . time to go to our centers again, to remind ourselves that God is present, actively bringing good, powerfully holding the entire cosmos together, individually seeking our redemption, together seeking transformation.

I need this time.  Time of stillness, prayer, worship, connection, smiles, music and reminders.

Others need this time. Time to stop from all the other things that we must do, or think we must do, to do that which is really important and eternal.  We really are but dust–our days are few, yet each one counts. Each moment has the possibility of seeing the sacred and loving the holy.

Sundays . . . thank You, precious Lord, for Sundays.
