From Swords to Plowshares

From Swords to Plowshares December 7, 2011

What can one person do?  Well, entrepreneur Peter Thum has figured out a way to turn AK47’s, the ubiquitous and deadly Russian-made assault rifle, into high-end jewelry and in the process, destroy thousands of those guns.  More of the story can be read here.

I am awed. This is biblical truth in today’s life.  The dream of the kingdom of heaven where the wolf lies down with the lamb and weapons of war turn to agents of peace and production has just been realized.

Now, Thum knows that his initiative is not going to get rid of every single assault rifle.  But so far, he’s managed to destroy 6000 of them.  That’s 6000 fewer instruments of war in people’s hands.

I wish I could afford a piece of his jewelry–the stuff runs in to the thousands and thousands of dollars.  I can’t-but I can wish this man the best of luck and God’s blessings.  I have no idea if he is a man of faith, but I do know he is a man of holy action and God’s grace is upon him.
