This segment of the FOX News show Huckabee aired on July 4-5, 2014. I was thankful to have a chance to discuss sexual ethics, religious liberty, and the controversy at Bowdoin College, my alma mater. Governor Huckabee cares deeply about religious liberty issues, and so Bowdoin effectively kicking the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship group off campus was of note to him (landing on A1 of the New York Times helps in that regard).
It was good to hear from Kristan Hawkins, leader of the surging Students for Life, a pro-life group that has opened hundreds of chapters on American college campuses. I’ve written about the group’s proliferation in the past.
In sum, I’m hopeful. I’m hopeful that religious liberty, though gravely threatened, will hold. I’m hopeful that Bowdoin, the college I love, will overturn its discriminatory policy and restore Bowdoin Christian Fellowship to full organizational status. God is good, and his purposes never fail. For this reason, Christians can be confident, active, and hopefully winsome as we make the case for religious liberty in the public square.
