When I was in a kid I was not very popular. I had been sexually abused by the man who shared a house with me and my mom from the age of 5 until I was 9,10 or 11 I do not honestly remember. I did not speak English until I was 6 or so. And I was ugly. Real ugly.  All of which made me very socially awkward to say the least. Most people did not realize what I... Read more

Yesterday I was thinking about how to go about celebrating the 12 days of Christmas. For Catholics, and really all Christians, Christmas begins on Christmas Day and goes until the beginning of Epiphany which is January 6th. I never knew that until I came into the Catholic Church. I always wondered where that song came from and it all made sense to me once I learned the Liturgical Calendar. It is not a “catholic” thing. It is part of our... Read more

Professor Watkins Ethics Leticia Adams     There are many people who feel that the morality of the world today is worse than ever before. I’m not too sure if that is true or if the constant news streams make it more noticeable. All anyone has to do is pick up a history book to see that there were plenty of immoral behaviors in this country since it was founded. I do, however, feel that there is a fear of... Read more

Leticia Adams Ethics Professor Watkins   I would love to agree with Marquis. I think that abortion is immoral. But I do not agree with his argument. His argument is that abortion is immoral because of the value of the fetus’s future. One of his reasons for this is because he says that those opposed to abortion can’t prove personhood. I strongly disagree.  His argument leaves open the door to the “good” future argument that I hear so often. If... Read more

Leticia Adams Professor Watkins Ethics Exam #3 Tooley argues that in order for a human being to be a person and have a right to life they have to have knowledge of themselves, desires, experiences and be aware of itself as a continuing entity.  Therefore a fetus or even an infant which don’t meet those requirements do not have a right to life. And abortion is not always immoral. I disagree. I think that the personhood debate is really a... Read more

1.   On Monday I went to help with RCIA and as always when I don’t want to do something I get the greatest blessing from it. I did not want to go. I don’t have my own group and it was no big deal to miss out. But something told me to go. Father Jonathan did a great job speaking on the Sacraments!! The group I helped with talked about the homework they had. It was about the Pope... Read more

I have always feared death. I’m not really sure why but I have. One of my very first memories is of my grandfather’s funeral. I remember my Tio Roy holding me and telling me to kiss my grandfather’s cheek in his coffin. I asked him in Spanish “Why is Apa sleeping in there?” I don’t remember what how he answered me but I remember leaning over from my uncle’s arms and kissing my grandfather’s face. It was cold and nothing... Read more

So I woke up this morning and read someone who I’ve known since childhood was having a hard time. For some reason the bible verse that came to mind was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.  (oh and before I go on let me say that I think my guardian angel woke me up at 4:45 am to give me a bright idea about Saints. It was my first update this morning. He was YELLLLING that... Read more

(I found an old note I wrote on FB and thought I’d share. Please excuse me if it seems harsh, I think I was having a moment that day. LOL) Disclaimer: I’m a horrible speller by nature and even worse when I go off on a “tangent”, forgive me. There are many issues in the world today. Abortion, homelessness, illegal immigration, terrorism, the economy, world hunger, human trafficking, drugs and alchol abuse, murder, racism, discrimination, hate crimes, the list goes on and on.... Read more

1. First week back to crazy time!!! The kids and I went back to school this week and overall it’s been a good week. I really thought that getting Daniel up for 6:30 am football practice would be much harder. But much to my surprise it’s been pretty smooth sailing. I hope it stays that way, and if it does I may have to nominate his football coach for teacher of the whole world. Getting Daniel to do anything that... Read more
