Patheos Pagan on the Road, February 2020

Patheos Pagan on the Road, February 2020 February 5, 2020

February is always a busy month in the Pagan world, since it’s home (for now) to two of the largest indoor Pagan festivals in North America, PantheaCon (San Jose, CA, February 14-17) and ConVocation (Detroit, MI, February 20-23). This year is the last ever PantheaCon, and we’ve got over a dozen Patheos Pagan authors attending and presenting workshops and rituals. The schedules for all of our Patheos Pagan writers are below, so if you are in California over President’s Day Weekend be sure to say hello! The ConVocation schedule for Patheos Pagan writers follows. Happy Festivaling!!

Katrina Rasbold The Limpia: Cleansing the Mind, Body, & Spirit Friday 7:00 PM San Martin

Ari Mankey A Curated Tour of Scotland’s Whisky Friday 6:00 PM, The Witches Next Door Suite

Black Rose Witchcraft The Passion of Aradia Friday 9:00 PM Cedar

Misha Magdalene A Queerness of Divinity Friday 9:00 PM Silicon Valley

Jenya T. Beachy A Ritual of the Deep Well and the Sacred Grove Friday San Martin 11:00 PM

Jenya Beachy preaching the good Pagan news.

It’s Astrea Taylor’s first PantheaCon (just in time). It will be cool to see our favorite Starlight Witch on the West Coast. Katrina Rasbold has returned to Patheos Pagan with Witch at the Crossroads and her new book, Crossroads of Conjure is really terrific. Black Rose Witchcraft involves the amazing Devin Hunter so it has to be on our list of course! And it’s a shame the Aradia ritual is the same time as Misha Magdalene’s A Queerness of Divinity workshop, because Misha is an absolutely fantastic presenter. Kind of like how Jenya Beachy is one of our favorite ritualists. Ari Mankey doesn’t really write at Patheos Pagan, but since she’s married to a certain goatboy we though including her seemed like a good idea. On Twitter Ari’s handle is “Whisky Priestess,” the girl knows her Scotch.

Jason Mankey & the Oak Court A Dion Fortune Ritual for Isis and Pan Saturday 11:00 PM Cedar

Who did Tempest piss off? 9:00 in the morning? Seems like her workshop should be the “Art of Coffee Magic.” Speaking of Tempest she’s vending at PantheaCon too, and you’ll want to stop by her booth. Devin and Mat at the same workshop? And Mat’s first ever PantheaCon workshop? Sign us up! From there we’ll have to rush off and see Gwyn of 3 Pagans and a Cat fame. Might as well just stay in the Witches Next Door Suite when it’s done because there’s more Misha Magdalene afterwards, followed by Gwion Raven and then Astrea Taylor. I think you can camp in that suite?

The evening is shaping up to be pretty busy too, with rituals featuring Storm Faerywolf, Phoenix LeFae, Gwion Raven (hail Dionysus!), and Jason Mankey and Angus McMahan. (Jason and Angus are both a part of the Dion Fortune for Pan and Isis.) We think the highlight of the night though will probably be Sidney Eileen’s Non-Binary Ritual. Yay for inclusion of everybody!!

Durgadas Allon Duriel Everyday Magic Monday at 9:00 AM San Simeon

Looking at Durgadas Duriel’s schedule makes me tired! There’s just so much going on there! Speaking of goings on, Tara Sanchez (Wales) and Cyndi Brannen (Canada) are both flying into Pcon this year from very far away places. Don’t miss them. Gwion, much like Tempest on Saturday, seems to have upset someone since he’s speaking at 9:00 AM, and just a few short hours after a Dionysian Revel! I wonder if he’ll talk about English Breakfasts?

Katrina is tempting up with her husband to present at 11:00 AM, and Saturday also seems more workshops by Mat Auryn and Laura Tempest Zakroff. Debra DeAngelo and Brandy Williams both haven’t written here in a good long while, but we love them so we included them here anyways. And not to forget, for many of us Angus McMahan is a true highlight of PantheaCon, so if you get a chance stop in and see him!

And this year at PantheaCon two of our own are running suites! Be sure to stop by The Witches Next Door Suite (most likely room 966) and the North Western Circles Association (run by Katrina Rasbold). Speaking of the Witches Next Door, in addition to running a suite, and presenting all weekend long, their stop Milk and Honey will also be vending.

We can’t help but notice there’s a lot of Isis and Hekate this year too; with two rituals featuring Isis, and two workshops with Hecate. Also, there’s a lot of water (wonder if it will rain?) between Annwyn Avalon, and Durgadas and Jason’s rituals.

John Beckett, Gwion Raven, and Jason Mankey talk about Cernunnos at PantheaCon

CONVOCATION

Convocation, occurring just a few days after PantheaCon, is no afterthought here at Patheos Pagan. Though there won’t be a whole lot of us in Detroit, Jason Mankey and the gang from Three Pagans and a Cat will be busy all weekend. In addition our friend Andrieh Vitimus who has written for us at the Agora over the years will be in attendance too!
