New Episode Witchcraft & Voodoo : Sacred Art

New Episode Witchcraft & Voodoo : Sacred Art 2018-10-24T05:26:04-05:00

This week on Witchcraft & Voodoo: Sacred Art we talk about this vital element of religion. Since the beginning of time art has been a way of connecting with the divine. From cave drawings to graffiti walls to Christ in some urine, art is controversial, thought provoking, and transformational.  Join me, Lilith Dorsey and my co-host Sable Aradia as we discuss our favorite artists, tarot decks and more.

In this new episode we talk about some of the more well known artists like Oberon
Zell and Robin Wood, and those you should know like Bellavia, Berta Daniels, and Hrana
Janto. We go over the tricky subjects of artistic license and cultural appropriation and
how Witches, Pagans, and the divine have been represented throughout time.

Here on Voodoo Universe we have done our best to support artists that feature themes of African Traditional Religions. If you haven’t seen it yet please have a look at my video on the Fire and Spirit of Artist Mahalia Stines. In addition I would like to recommend the work of alt-Black artist Christina Springer whose amazing work manifests as poetry, dance, theatre, film, paint, sculpture and textile design. Look for a review of her new work The Splooge Factory here on the blog soon.

If you are a Pagan artist we would love to hear your thoughts, and maybe even support you if we can. This is the one time I’m saying it’s okay to leave your website or Patreon in the comments below. We would love to hear from you.
