In War for the Planet of the Apes, we get a story concerned with both: Caesar, the intelligent, charismatic chimpanzee leader of a troop of rebellious apes, and God—and just what he thinks of this fifth-day upstart creation of His.

War for the Planet of the Apes has religion on its mind—and it has some very interesting things to say. Indeed, it suggests that God, at least the God in the Planet of the Apes universe, is about ready to push the planetary reboot button.
