I’m Officially Pumped for Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time

So, there’s only so much you can learn from a movie trailer. They’re advertisements, after all. They’re supposed to get you excited about a movie.

That said, I got goosebumps watching the trailer for A Wrinkle in Time.

It looks like the Disney movie has a great cast. It’s being directed by Ava DuVernay, who also directed Selma, one of my favorite pics from 2014. Moreover, A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite childhood books, and only later did I learn that its author, Madeleine L’Engle, was a Christian.

“We draw people to Christ not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it,” she once said. And you see just a tinge of L’Engle’s faith even in this brief trailer.

“What if we are here for a reason?” Chris Pine tells us. “What if we are a part of something truly divine?”

A Wrinkle in Time is no Narnia story, of course. In fact, many people have accused it over the years of being anti-Christian. But for me, the story speaks to the spiritual soul, telling us that there is indeed such a thing as good and evil out there; how easy it can be to succumb to the latter, how difficult it can be to follow the former.

We’ll have to wait for it for a bit: A Wrinkle In Time won’t be out until March 9, according to the poster.

It can’t come soon enough for me.
