Day 32 of 90: Moksha Yoga: Detox, Cleanse, and Weight Loss

Day 32 of 90: Moksha Yoga: Detox, Cleanse, and Weight Loss August 11, 2013

As I walked to Moksha Yoga LA on day 32 of 90 straight days of hot yoga, I contemplated a dream with a friend.  The dream offered me insight into my new found stability, growth, and expression. I like entering the Moksha studio, it is a representation of walking into a temple. The sign asks us to maintain silence in the room. As I entered and laid down on my mat, I closed my eyes and began to enter into my temple, inside, the alter is my heart, and the breath is spirit itself. As I contemplated my journey on the mat,  I was aware of my toes, and then I became aware of the space between them, as this happened, my breath deepened. I began to become aware of the space between my fingers, organs, the space outside of me, and inside, and realized this breath is always filling the space. It reminds me of water as it fills ever space and moves around things with ease and grace. Same can be held true for the breath. Magical.

Our teacher Joe emphasized the importance of the breath, gravity, and how the breath  moves without force. The breath comes into our bodies and exhales, “Let gravity help your pose, use it.” As I practiced I had a flash of questions,   “how many times do I allow my breath to be? Or Allow gravity to ground me? Or Allow life to flow now?” well as I continue to practice Moksha Yoga, I am finding out.

Some poses flow with grace, and others are inhibited by my mind, but when I acknowledge the breath and trust the breath in the pose, it takes me to a more open space inside and then the expression of the pose is very dynamic and purposeful. It is funny, I just looked up “PUR” and it is defined as “To signify or express by purring”. So your purpose in life is your self expression. Awesome.  And your self expression allows you to purr like a cat with contentment.  So life is purpose, every moment offering self expression and contentment in the expression.

I have tried many practices of detoxing, cleansing, and so far this practice offers a whole being experience.  Meaning the it is developing compassion for yourself and others, unifying the body, mind, and spirit, and detoxing and cleansing the system as well. It only takes 60-75 minutes a day.  I have lost 9 pounds, and my diet has merged into a healthy based way of being in the world.  I feel good, and I am starting to notice difference in my mental (More Peace of Mind), in the physical I am becoming stronger, focused, and purposeful, and finally in the spiritual realm, I am allowing the breath to guide the practice which allows me to honor my temple.  Heaven on earth is the unification of body, mind, and spirit. Onward to day 33…Namaste
