Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, And More in Central Park UPDATED! 2016-12-08T13:43:00-05:00

It’s the Global Citizen Festival and it’s “free” for a ticketed donation. The proceeds will be used to combat extreme poverty around the world.

“Frank,” you’re thinking, “this is great news if I happen to live near New York City. But I don’t, so why bother?”

Good news! This event is being billed as “the largest syndicated charity concert in on-line and broadcast TV history.” So you can go, dear reader!

So what channel is the show playing on? MTV and VH1, or course. You can also watch it streaming live on your PC/Laptop/Mobile device at globalfestival.com, in association with Yahoo!

The charity groups involved are: Rotary International, Earth Institute, US Fund for Unicef, Pencils of Promise, Malaria No More, Half the Sky, World Vision, Global Partnership for Education, World Food Program USA, Earth Day Network.

Guess what? Some of these groups may not meet the standards you set for charities you support. So here’s an idea: send a little extra cash to the ones you do support in an effort to combat extreme poverty. Then click on over and enjoy some great music.

I just finished watching Band of Horses, and look forward to Neil Young and the rest of the acts as well. The Black Keys just took the stage!

UPDATE: Watch it right here on YouTube.

The New York Bishops are right: We aren’t helping the poor enough.
