Not so fast, Mr. President. In fact, it appears that you have awoken a sleeping giant. For your viewing pleasure, sir, I present these three excellent videos that express to you, and your Administration, the opinions of the (heretofore) Silent Majority.  I’ve arranged them in order of the number of views they have received on YouTube to date. The Eucharist has been on my mind lately. This evening at our parish, my wife and I finished a six week long reading and discussion of Brant Pitre’s, Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist. What a delight and a treasure trove of knowledge that book is. I’ll share more on what I learned soon, as the thoughts that Dr. Pitre shared from the history of the Exodus to the Last Supper needs to be known by all Christians.... Read more

I’ve been working in the yard around Casa del Weathers. One thing I’ve been doing a lot of lately is weeding. It’s a lovely Saturday, following on the heels of a Friday in which many folks turned out during their lunch hours to stand up for religious liberty. Truth be told, I couldn’t make it to the event that was planned nearest to my home. (more…) Read more

For next Friday (ed. 3/30/2012!) as a special day of fasting and prayer for Religious Liberty. And for those who may think going one.whole.day. without eating a meal is impossible, I’ll remind you of a miraculous way that may change your mind. Food for thought. Read more

Back in the Fall, I shared a post with you about fallen Hollywood heroes asking for mercy. Does Hollywood matter? Does anything, given the finiteness of our earthly existence? I’m reminded of a title of an album by John Cougar Mellencamp: Nothing Matters, And What If It Did? (more…) Read more

Sure, it’s a day early, but Spring was about three weeks early where I live this year. What’s been your experience? So I’m in the mood to share a painting for the season, created by the fellow who has become my favorite Jesuit priest. Remember Wu Li, SJ? Makes you want to hang up a “gone fishin'” sign and leave, doesn’t it? Read more
