Fun! They work a great variety in there. I don’t think I’ve ever heard “Who is He in Yonder Stall” on a Christmas album and always thought of it as a bit dull, but they dress it up. “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” is always a winner, though I don’t suppose anyone can do it better than the Martins, but I’m partial. Kim and “O Holy Night” on the piano are a natural match. Never heard that slightly jazzy “Glory to the Newborn King” song at the end before, but it looks like fun. Good mood music for the season!
I don’t think the Martins have recorded “Beautiful Star,” although Charlotte Ritchie has been known to sing it.
Ah! You caught me. I went off to cook supper after posting that comment and was in the kitchen when I realized, “Drat! I confused ‘Beautiful Star’ with ‘When They Saw the Star’.” However, I didn’t get back to post my own correction in time. 🙂
I just bought the CD. It is wonderful. For me the #1 star moment is the duet between Brooklyn and Philip on Silent Night. Harmony just doesn’t get any better.
You’re tempting me!
