The Lighter Side of Book Burning

The Lighter Side of Book Burning September 13, 2010

While most stories from this weekend regarding burning things made me shake my head, a story out of Amarillo, TX made me giggle like a school girl.

According to the Amarillo Globe News, the scene was set for David Grisham (director of “Repent Amarillo”) to exercise his right to free speech by burning a Quran in a public park.  His plans attracted a crowd of peace-loving protesters, all of whom seemed resigned to the fact that they were going to witness a book go up in flames.

But not so fast.  While Grisham was distracted by debating protesters, a man with a skateboard sneaked up behind him and took the Quran from his hand.  He then calmly handed it to a Muslim leader nearby.  Reporters later identified the 23 yr old as Jacob Isom

Do yourself a favor, check out the report of this story below- and listen for Jacob’s money quote at the 57 second mark.

I snuck up behind him and took his Koran- He said something about burning the Koran, and I was like “Dude, you have no Quran!” and ran off.
