Frequently Asked Questions

Are all evangelicals politically conservative?

While the popular picture of American evangelical plitics usually focuses on participation in the Republican Party and conservative social causes, numerous studies have demonstrated that their political commitments are far more diverse than usually believed.  Although some evangelicals have certainly had prominent roles in some of the "culture wars" of the eighties and nineties, evangelical commitment to world mission has always meant a commitment to issues of global relief and development. Recently, many younger evangelicals are embracing a wide range of social issues including the fight global poverty and AIDS, as evidenced by participation in the ONE movement and the statements of the politically centrist and much publicized Evangelical Manifesto.
