CBB Media Review – The End: The Book of Revelation 12 CD set

I was afforded the opportunty to review another CD set from St. Joseph’s Communications. Before I proceed, if you have not looked into their massive catalog of 900 resources you should. Visit their site at http://saintjoe.net/. This week I’m reviewing The End: The Book of Revelation, A Scott Hahn Bible Study. This particular set comes in at 12 CDs roughly 1 hour in length each. Suffice it to say this is not a quick overview of Revelation, this is a deep dive study you are going to learn a lot from.

I’ll start with the information from the back of the CD case:

When they say “Intense” they mean it. This is not simply a collection of multiple talks. This set is a complete university level study. Scott Hahn literally takes the listener through every line of the book of Revelation. Scott reveals to us that in this book St. John is not writing about the end of the world but the glory of the Church. You will learn how the Book of Revelation actually reveals many central doctrines of the Catholic faith including the Queenship of Mary, the importance of the saints, and most importantly the Mass. Scott specifically shows how the Mass is truly heaven on earth and how when we celebrate the Mass we do so in union with heaven. Simply put this line of thought is breathtaking.

St. Joseph Communications also has available a study guide that accompanies the 12 CD set. The workbook follows each of the talks as presented on the CDs. Sprinkled throughout the commentary are fill in the blank and circle the answer questions. There are also references to scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Vatican II documents and various quotes from the saints and church fathers. The appropriate answers for the fill in the blank and circle choices are given at the end of each chapter. Lastly each chapter concludes with discussion questions pertaining to that CDs discussion. To give you a sense of just how deep this study goes here are the contents:

Upon completing this entire walk through of the Book of Revelation the study guide wraps up with a two sections Review and Study Guides and Division of Revelation and Contents. I must say the depth of the content in this stdy guide left me very impressed.If you are confused by or don’t have much knowledge of the Book of Revelation you cannot go wrong with this set. After listening to the 12 hours of talks and question and answer sessions you will have a much fuller understanding of the mysterious and mystifying theology of the Book of Revelation. You cannot go wrong with this CD set and you should really consider the study guide as well. This combined set can be used for either group or individual study. No matter the setting you will be rewarded with a deeper understanding of the true meaning of the Book of Revelation.
