The Medicine of Laughter

The Medicine of Laughter October 30, 2013

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones (Proverbs 17:22).

I love people with a sense of humor.  Having a good laugh causes the blood pressure to drop, increases oxygen supplies in the body, reduces stress, and also has been shown to fight disease.  In my many years I have collected some church bulletin blunders that are worth repeating to the congregation that I am under-shepherd of.  Here are a few of my favorite church bulletin boards that really appeared in church bulletin’s and have been read by congregations around the nation.  I do this in the hopes that we can laugh and learn to laugh at ourselves too.  Read em’ and weep…with laughter!

This being Easter Sunday, we will ask Mrs. Lewis to come forward and lay an egg on the altar.

The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind. They can be seen in the church basement Saturday.

The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been canceled due to a conflict.

The Low Self-Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 to 8:30 p.m. Please use the back door.

Thursday night–Potluck supper. Prayer and medication to follow.

Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our church and community.

May God richly bless you.
