7 Bible Verses That Make You Feel Beautiful

7 Bible Verses That Make You Feel Beautiful February 19, 2016

Here are seven Bible verses that I hope will make you feel beautiful.

Genesis 1:28 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

In the beginning, after the creation of the heavens and the earth, God came to create His greatest creation of all and that is man. God didn’t create animals with the capacity of moral character and the ability to choose right from wrong like He did man, so in this way, man was created in the image of God, both male and female, and that is how we should treat others, as they too are created in the image of God. We must also remember that we are also made in God’s image and that we are to become more like Christ every day.

Psalm 34:5 “Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.”

Just as Moses face glowed from the Shekinah glory of God when he came down from Mount Sinai, so too do the faces of those who look to Him. They will shine with brilliant radiance and on their faces, there shall be no shame because “Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever” (Psalm 125:1) and as the Apostle Paul writes, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame” (Rom 10:11) because “hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us” (Rom 5:5).

Song of Solomon 4:1 “Behold, you are beautiful, my love, behold, you are beautiful! Your eyes are doves behind your veil.”

In this truly romantic book, the Song of Solomon, Solomon writes about his beloved wife as if there is nothing more beautiful on all the earth and so it is with those who love. To them, their beloved spouse is more beautiful than anyone else and there is no comparison. Such is love; love is blind in many ways and accepts the faults of others because they know that they too have their very own faults.

Second Corinthians 4:16 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.”

The older I get the easier it is to lose heart as my body is in a declining stage and my 60 plus years are starting to take their toll, however, every one of us begin the process of “wasting away” from the moment we’re born. It happens to us all; the years pass by somewhat slowly when we’re young but the older we get, the more time seems to speed up, but we can’t lose heart because inside, we’re being renewed day by day and will inherit eternal life after death or at Jesus’ appearance.

Do-not-let-your-adorning

Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

The word Solomon uses for vain where he writes “beauty is vain” is from the Hebrew word “hebel” which means “a vapor” or “a breath,” meaning that life is just like James wrote, “What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes” (James 4:14), so beauty is deceiving as its fleeting and vain (or useless, temporary) but a woman who fears God “is to be praised” for she has an inward beauty that only God can see, with the exception of her husband.

First Peter 3:3-4 “Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear—but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.”

This is close to what I wrote in the previous paragraph. The Apostle Peter places the greatest value on what’s inside of a person and not on the exterior, for that’ passing away; internal, moral, godly character remains forever. Even though the world doesn’t place such value inwardly, to God “a gentle and quiet spirit” is “very precious” to God.

First Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

It is okay to try and look as beautiful as you can but there is a hidden danger since the heart can be lifted up because of their beauty and can lead to a great fall, just as it did for Lucifer (Ezk 28:17), who was lifted up or filled with pride because of his beauty (Ezk 28:17) so “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment” (John 7:24) and that includes yourself. If you are not judging others by their outward appearances, why judge yourself by outward appearance; rather see yourself by God’s standard (1st Pet 3:4), not the worlds.

Conclusion

Solomon wrote “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end” (Eccl 3:11) so the best that we can do is focus on what we do know to be true in the Bible about our eternal destination. One thing for sure is the need for repentance and faith (Mark 1:15), and to put one’s trust in Christ. It is God “who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers” (Heb 2:11). Just like the beloved saints that have gone into glory before us, they “desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city” (Heb 11:16).
