Watchman for Daybreak Watch

Watchman for Daybreak Watch April 23, 2014

Here’s a round-up of writing-related stuff.

Watchman for Daybreak is going well. I’ve revised most of the existing material to reflect my new understanding of Captain St. Cloude, and it appears that I’m going to have two viewpoint characters: the captain, and Fr. Consolmagno Higgins, the Prefect of the new colony. It’s not clear to me yet whether Higgins has some serious conflicts of his own, or whether he’s mostly a foil to the captain (in this book anyway). And I’m up to 7,400 words, which is nice.

In the meantime, I’ve not done anything about getting past novels into e-book form; I took things easy over Easter weekend, and also I’ve put a lot of time into my new series on Aquinas’ Compendium Theologiae.

I’ve found a new use for Scrivener. Over time I’ve written a number of connected series of posts on various topics, and it occurs to me that each of those series might be the kernel of a future book. So I’ve been creating a Scrivener project for each series, and dropping the posts in as individual pages of text. I don’t know that anything will come of this, but at least the material will be backed up somewhere.

Next, there’s a new link up there on the menu at the top of the page, called “Series”. It’s a pulldown; if you put your mouse pointer over it, you’ll see a menu of the various series I’ve completed or am currently working on. There’s a page for each, with all of the links.
