Dear conservatives, it’s time to stand up and fight for American values

I’m still reeling from my speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference. As I looked out over the crowd, I felt very encouraged by the enthusiasm and am excited for what the future holds over the next four years as we tackle what has plagued this nation for far too long.

I will continue to urge my fellow conservatives to stand and fight like never before against the resistance to America’s foundation. What has been the bedrock of our nation since its beginning — the rule of law — is now considered controversial. It’s brought us to a crossroads in this country, but with the new administration, we finally have some push back against the chaos and lawlessness that’s gripped our society for the last decade.

In my speech, I felt it was important to walk through history and be reminded of some of our nation’s greatest leaders; our Founding Fathers, Martin Luther King Jr, and how they made great sacrifices to ensure the freedom of future generations. It was never easy, and always a struggle. They had to fight against all odds and that takes guts. I think we are at a time in this country where we need guts to get America back on track, and we finally have the leadership to ensure that goal.

That starts by enforcing the rule of law — the real bedrock of our liberty. Our adversaries say what President Trump is doing, especially in regards to immigration, is controversial, but he’s not making new rules, he’s stepping up and enforcing existing laws on the books just as he promised he would. Up until now, protecting our nation’s security with sensible immigration laws was honorable. Now, enforcing those laws is viewed as controversial. We’re upside down.

The loose policies of the last administration put too many of our freedoms in jeopardy. There’s too much at stake to continue down that road. But there are plenty of passionate people who love our country and want it to rise to the heights of its former glory. Thankfully, we have a president who feels the same way. It’s been a long time coming.
