Deacon Greg Kandra is a Roman Catholic deacon serving the Diocese of Brooklyn, New York. A veteran broadcast journalist, Deacon Greg worked for 26 years as a writer and producer for CBS News in both New York and Washington. He now serves as the Executive Editor of ONE, the acclaimed magazine published by Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA). In 2012, ONE received an unprecedented 21 awards from the Catholic Press Association, including First Place for General Excellence. For his work in broadcasting, Deacon Greg has been honored with every major award in the industry, including two George Foster Peabody Awards, two Emmy Awards, the Christopher Award and four awards from the Writers Guild of America.

Thank you for listening to the call of God and for letting him speak and live through you. If all deacons (and us priests as well) took their call as seriously as you, the church would be all the more enriched. The homilies you share give testimony to the Spirit alive in your life, and they give me insight for my own preaching. I praise God for the gift he’s given us in you, and congratulate you on you anniversary of your ordination. May God bless you with many more years!
