Quote of the day, on freedom of religion

“Those who are adherents to Islam are entitled to pursue their worship in the United States just as are those who are adherents to more universally established faiths (in our community)…We have a duty equally to treat those whose religious beliefs are similar to the majority beliefs and to those whose beliefs are very different from the majority. If the zoning laws are too favorable to those seeking to build places of worship, then citizens should prevail upon their elected representatives to change those ordinances, but until they do the Court must apply those laws equally to Protestant Christians, Roman Catholics, Muslims, Buddhists and others.”

— Chancellor Robert Corlew III, ruling on a planned mosque in Tennessee.

  1. When I first saw the photo, I thought it was Nazi Germany during WW II, then I realized it was in color and it was in the United States.

Whats next? will we require them to sew on a piece of cloth to there clothing.

Are you glad we have the republicans telling us which religion is allowed to be free in the US. I’m not.

The point is when does it stop, all we need is the next crack pot to say Catholic are no good, create some fear then watch what happens.

Freedom of religion is for all religions and is not based on some jerks prescribed notion. They love to expound upon the constitution they should take the time to actually read and live by it rather than manipulate it.

  2. Deacon Kandra,

I have been enjoying your blog for a few months since I found it online. I’m a Muslim-American and I really appreciate how well you express your own faith, while showing respect and appreciation for others’ traditions.

    God Bless.

  3. Melody, I read the articles in my St. Anthony Messenger. They were great. They really opened my eyes in a good way.

I’ve chosen to get my real news from Catholic sources. The Wanderer is great as well.

  4. People like this should remember that “old standard” we used to sing at Mass – “They Will Know We Are Christians by Our Love”. That song has been running through my head a lot lately……..
