The Deacon's Bench
Today the seminarian who spent his pastoral year at my parish packs his bags and heads for Creighton University, where he’ll spend the summer studying at their Institute for Priestly Formation. It’s been great having young Jeremy Canna (or, as I like to call him, JC ) around the rectory, and in the parish. The people in the pews came to love him, and I think the feeling was mutual.
In the fall, he’ll be setting up shop at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie, as part of the seminary restructuring announced last year. In 2013, he’ll be ordained a deacon and in 2014, by the grace of God, a priest.
He leaves with many heartfelt prayers — including mine. Traveling mercies, JC! I look forward to receiving one of your first priestly blessings.
