What Radical Decisions Have You Made in 2017?

I’d love to hear them. Share in the comments.

Here’s mine.

I’ve finally decided to do something that’s been long overdue. After my next 3 book projects, beginning in 2018, I’m going to take a sabbatical from writing books. It may last 1-5 years. Not sure yet, but I’m SO looking forward to the break. Let me explain.

Since 2008, I’ve been releasing 1 to 2 print books a year. And about the same amount of digital books. And quite frankly, I’m exhausted. Here’s the complete list:

***Hardcover & Softcover Books (also on Kindle, Nook, and most are on CD or MP3 audio)***

Pagan Christianity (with George Barna) – 2008

Reimagining Church – 2008

From Eternity to Here – 2009

Finding Organic Church – 2009

Jesus Manifesto (with Leonard Sweet) – 2010

Revise Us Again – 2011

Jesus: A Theography (with Leonard Sweet) – 2012

God’s Favorite Place on Earth – 2013

Jesus Now – 2014

The Day I Met Jesus (with Mary DeMuth) – 2015

Jesus Speaks (with Leonard Sweet) – 2016

***Digital Books from 2008-2016***

Rethinking the Will of God

Discipleship in Crisis

Rethinking the Mission

Rethinking the Spirit

Rethinking the Church

Rethinking Spiritual Growth

Rethinking Conventional Christianity

Practical Help for Christian Communities

Pouring Holy Water on Strange Fire

Epic Jesus

Beyond Evangelical

When the Pages Are Blank

Straight Talk to Pastors

Magnificent Obsession

Where’s God?

I counted them up the other day and it comes to 26 volumes in 8 years. I feel the publishing fatigue even as I write the list. Here’s what I have left.

***Books to Release in the Next Two Years***

There Must Be More – a titanic 800-page hardcover that’s over 8.5 x 11 in size. Preorders will be taken n July. Limited quantity made. Only one printing. A collectible. Only available through my weekly email list.

My book on the kingdom of God – releases October 2017 (in the editing phase)

The Untold Story of the New Testament Church — Revised and Expanded with new cover and new title – releases October 2018

After that, I’m done. I’ll be joining the ranks of most authors who put out a book every 3 to 5 years. I figure that most of my readers haven’t read all of my books yet, so why keep cranking out new ones?

Btw/ during the time I’m not writing books I’ll still be blogging, holding Mastermind events, and running The Deeper Christian Life Network.
