After the release of the “Trump Tapes,” some prominent Republicans who had previously supported Donald Trump have withdrawn their support of the GOP nominee. Other #NeverTrumpers are re-energized in their stance.
Here is the ever-growing list of people who will NOT be supporting Trump this November.
1. John McCain
The 2008 former nominee is not attending the GOP convention, after Trump famously critiqued his war record. “He’s not a war hero,” said the 2016 nominee. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
“Cindy and I will not vote for Donald Trump,” the Arizona senator and 2008 presidential nominee announced in a statement Saturday that also referred to the views of his wife, Cindy McCain. “I have never voted for a Democratic presidential candidate and we will not vote for Hillary Clinton. We will write in the name of some good conservative Republican who is qualified to be President.”
2. Ben Sasse
Character matters.@realDonaldTrump is obviously not going to win.
But he can still make an honorable move:

3. George Herbert Walker Bush
In an unprecedented move, the 41st President of the United States — and patriarch of the Bush family — has not endorsed the GOP nominee. USA Today reports:
“At age 91, President Bush is retired from politics,” a spokesman for Bush 41 told The Texas Tribune. “He came out of retirement to do a few things for Jeb, but those were the exceptions that proved the rule.”
Recently, Politico reported that the former President was voting for Hillary Clinton.
4. George W. Bush
But George H.W. Bush is not alone. USA Today reports:
Former President George W. Bush fretted to a group of former aides and advisers in April that he was worried he could be the “last Republican president.”
Apparently, Bush plans to be on his ranch in Crawford, Texas where he’ll be riding his bike and painting.
5. Mitt Romney
The former GOP nominee famously tried to stop Americans from supporting Trump early on. Later, he said, “I don’t want to see trickle-down racism. I don’t want to see a president of the United States saying things which change the character of the generations of Americans that are following. Presidents have an impact on the nature of our nation, and trickle-down racism, trickle-down bigotry, trickle-down misogyny, all these things are extraordinarily dangerous to the heart and character of America.”
After the Trump tapes were published, he tweeted:
Hitting on married women? Condoning assault? Such vile degradations demean our wives and daughters and corrupt America’s face to the world.
