Lands’ End pledges money for abortion in catalog, but does THIS after pro-lifers protest March 4, 2016

Gloria Steinem has spent her life advocating for the far-left feminist agenda, including unfettered abortion on demand at any time in the pregnancy for any reason.  Despite her radical record, the clothing brand Lands’ End featured an interview with her in their most-recent catalog in which she promoted the (so-called) Equal Rights Amendment.  Brian Sikma wrote:

Land’s End didn’t just praise the life and legacy of Steinem, the company actually pledged to raise money for the activist’s pro-abortion group. The Fund for Women’s Equality is the 501(c)3 relative of the more politically active 501(c)4 ERA Coalition, which is lobbying for the passage of the old Equal Rights Amendment, a constitutional measure consistently backed by pro-abortion advocates.

But Lands End’s customers weren’t having it.  The Daily Caller explains:

Lands’ End found itself caught up in a war between pro-life activists and abortionists after publishing and then retracting an interview with Gloria Steinem, a pro-abortion feminist, in its clothing catalog.

Pro-life activists and conservatives quickly voiced their displeasure over the feature, criticizing the family-friendly company for giving a pro-choice feminist a platform. Some Christian schools that recommend the clothing company for required uniforms threatened to cut ties and others threatened boycotts.

The catalog features “radical pro-abortion feminist Gloria Steinem,” a pro-life Christian nonprofit called The Radiance Foundation said in a Facebook post. “Steinem … has been dedicated to pushing abortion-on-demand, with zero restrictions.”

And Lands’ End took notice. Following the backlash, they issued this statement:

Some customers were troubled and concerned that we featured an interview with Gloria Steinem in a recent catalog. Lands’ End is committed to providing our loyal customers and their families with stylish, affordable, well-made clothing. We greatly respect and appreciate the passion people have for our brand. It was never our intention to raise a divisive political or religious issue, so when some of our customers saw the recent promotion that way, we heard them. We sincerely apologize for any offense.

Well, at least they’re willing to admit it was a bad idea and that its customers are not a homogeneous mass who all fall hook line and sinker for the Left’s agenda.
