Breaking Bad Finale Watch: 6 Days and Counting… August 5, 2013

From Geek Goes Rogue TV Editor Zach Lorton, as told to by the lone Hawaiian shirt hanging in his closet…

“Breaking Bad” mania just keeps rollin’.

Earlier today, CBS reported that the Emmy winning show has taken the top award given at the Television Critics Association awards on August 3rd, winning the prestigious Program Of the Year award.

Said TCA president Candace Havens, “In a year that saw a lot of great television, the TCA Awards winners represent the best of the best.”  And the awards reflected the pulse of the viewing public, as voted on by over 200 members of the TCA, professional critics and journalists throughout the US and Canada.  Other awards winners included “Shark Tank”, who took the prize for Outstanding Achievement in Reality Programming; “The Big Bang Theory” and “Parks and Recreation”, who jointly took honors for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy; Louie C.K., accepting the Individual Achievement in Comedy award for the second consecutive year; and the Keri Russell vehicle “The Americans”, which took the prize for Outstanding New Program.

Barbara Walters was also given the Career Achievement Award, and the Heritage Award was handed to the controversial sitcom “All In the Family”.

I expect to see “Sharknado” on this list next year, you guys.

Put that checkbook away, there’s more!

Groupon sent me an email that I received at 1:42 pm, indicating that 8 different designs of “Breaking Bad” T-shirts were available through their Groupon Goods channel for just $12.99 each, a 48% savings (sorry if I robbed anyone of the opportunity to do a little math).  Not 5 minutes ago, at 4:20 pm, I check the site again to find that the deal was listed as “No Longer Available”, and over 1,000 shirts had been sold.

“I’m not happy, Bob.  NOT HAPPY.”

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been keeping my eye on the Breaking Badvent calendar on Vulture‘s website, and a few days ago, I caught this, mixing my current favorite television show with one of my all-time favorite musicians.  Enjoy.

You’re welcome.

*SURPRISE EDIT* On a whim, I checked the link from my email again to the Groupon page, and as of 4:45 pm, they have acquired more “Breaking Bad” shirts.  I’m happy again.  Check it out here, and hopefully you’ll get in on this deal before they sell out again.
