Ted Cruz picks Carly Fiorina for Vice President

Ted Cruz took the step of choosing a running-mate before the convention:  Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett Packard CEO whose own campaign for the GOP nomination ended, despite some good debate performances.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz named former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina as his running mate for a possible general election run.

Cruz, a U.S. senator for Texas, made the announcement at a rally in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Cruz’s campaign had been hinting that he could name a vice presidential running mate as soon as this week, a move that would seek to consolidate more Republican support and create an image that he will be the nominee. Fiorina, who made a failed presidential bid, had widely been discussed as a pick.
