Genesis 41: God Can Do It

Genesis 41: God Can Do It February 27, 2012

15 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”

16 “I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” -Genesis 41:15-16

Pharaoh’s troubling dream led Joseph’s overnight transformation. Yet the wonderful note is made of Joseph’s deep humility at this stage of his life. After several years of slavery and imprisonment, he now stood before the ruler of his nation who had summoned him for help.

Joseph could have taken the credit, but he did not. Instead, he acknowledged his human limitations and God’s supremacy. God honored Joseph, provided the answer, and exalted Joseph to second in charge behind Pharaoh.

Again, God can take our weakness moments and turn the situation around in a moment. Our goal must be to give him the glory when he does.
