“Moms’ Night Out”: A Frolicking Good Time Laughing at Motherhood’s Stresses

“Moms’ Night Out”: A Frolicking Good Time Laughing at Motherhood’s Stresses January 21, 2014

All Allyson and her friends want is a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation . . . a long-needed moms’ night out.

But in order to enjoy high heels, adult conversation and food not served in a bag, they need their husbands to watch the kids for three hours—what could go wrong?

MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is an endearing true-to-life family comedy that celebrates the beautiful mess called parenting.

It was my great pleasure last summer to visit the set of MOMS’ NIGHT OUT, and to watch the talented cast in action.  Now that the movie trailer is available, I’ve smiled at the sight of the Birmingham warehouse, recreated as a posh restaurant, where we–print and broadcast media–hobnobbed with the celebrities, chatting about the challenges of being away from home, the excitement generated and the friendships forged, the hopes for success in theatres.

Sean Astin

A lot of movie-making, I learned, is pretty darned boring!  I watched as extras crossed the street in front of the restaurant–again, and again, and again….  I chatted with lighting crew and motorcyclists who were on duty, but just waiting for something to happen.

But then we sat on the patio, savoring the night air, and talked with first one, then another of the talented cast.  I was impressed with each of them–with their vision, their faith, their personal commitment to excellence.

Here, finally, is the movie trailer–just released today!  MOMS’ NIGHT OUT will open in theaters on May 9, 2014.
