OH NO!! Pope Francis’ “Peace Doves” Attacked by Crow and Seagull

As tens of thousands of people watched in St. Peter’s Square today, two white doves released in St. Peter’s Square were attacked by a crow and a seagull.

Small children had joined Pope Francis in the window of the Apostolic Palace to release the doves today, as a peace gesture following the pope’s remarks calling for peace in Ukraine.  Civil unrest in that country this week has led to the deaths of anti-government protestors.

I’m afraid peace is hard to come by these days!  One of the two doves seems to have escaped from the seagull, losing some feathers but making a break for freedom.  The other dove was repeatedly pecked by the large black crow–and there are no reports of its final outcome.

I was reminded of this YouTube video which was trending last Fall, showing the unfortunate fate which befell a baby bunny that had been rescued and raised by a family, then released into the wild, only to be snatched up by a hawk.  Watch it if you dare.

Oh my dear, it makes me pray even more often for peace……

  • Patti Day

Between this attack on the Pope’s peace doves and lightening striking the statue of Jesus Christ that overlooks Rio twice in one day, I’m sensing there may be a message we’re not heeding.

    • Sygurd Jonfski

Not to mention the double lightning strike on St.Peter’s dome right after Pope Benedict XVI’s abdication…

    • newark

Oh, look Lightening has been striking that statue many times for many years.

      • said she

The same is true for St. Peter’s.

    • Howard

Uh, yeah. The message is: Don’t be superstitious. Don’t be superstitious about the meaning of an unmolested dove, and don’t be superstitious about the meaning of a dove attacked by the rats of the air.

  • http://www.lisagraas.com Lisa Graas

Hey! Who am I to judge?

  • Geoffrey Miller

    Well, that’s mildly unsettling.

If you believe in divine omens, the crow traditionally represents death, war, and change, while the seagull represents the quest for personal freedom. Let’s try an interpretation out for kicks and see where it takes us.

A crow and a seagull attacked two doves in front of children.

One might interpret the omen as meaning that our attempt to chase after personal freedom will soon threaten the world with death and war. That one of the doves was killed means that one half of the world will have its peace taken away. The dove that escaped symbolizes that half of the world will retain its peace. That children were watching means that our children will be the ones to watch this epic conflict unfold.

That the Pope was involved…I don’t know what that means, but man, it’s so intense, and it can’t be good. ;) :P

    • Danielck

Children watching? Come on. Adults were also watching. Everyone who saw it unfold was watching. And later those not involved via media will have watched the natural events unfold. And that is only the beginning of my analysis of your attempt to interpret what happened.

      • Geoffrey Miller

        I was joking. Hence the “;) :P”

        • Howard

Sarcasm really doesn’t work on the Internet, even with emoticons.

          • Jacob Suggs

It can, you just have to be really overt. For example:

Ravens always portend a really annoying cawing sound (followed by a brief bang and cloud of feathers if you live in the country – keeping in mind that country people are known for being down to earth) whereas seagulls are well known for stealing lunches from innocent tourists.

So these two birds clearly portend that a lot of people will make a lot of annoying, meaningless noise over the event before they are shot down by people with common sense, and that some other people will lose their lunch money by trying to read something into this that isn’t there.

Further, the fact that the doves were released by the head of the Catholic Church and then killed is an omen showing that the truth (such as that “…interpretation of omens and lots… conceal[s] a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.” CCC 2116) will generally be released and sent out into the world at large, only to be attacked by said annoying cawers and lunch thieves.

I think the children being present is meant to show us that even a child can see through any attempts to interpret this as an omen.

  • EdwardDLR

Why not mention the fact that this happened one year exactly to the attack by seagulls on peace doves released by Benedict XVI. This has not happened before — and now we see two such attacks, but a more vicious one on the first anniversary of the previous event.

Added to the lightening strike on St Peter’s (day of the papal resignation) and on the statue of Christ the Redeemer (Rio) a couple of weeks ago, I think we should all be preparing for some great, and terrible, event.

Pray, fast, love and be reconciled.

    • Howard

Why not mention this happened the very same day that Team Deion Sanders beat Team Jerry Rice on a surprising 2-point conversion at the end of the game?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? Is everyone an Augur this morning — a pagan Roman priest who thinks he can interpret the will of the gods from the flight of birds? After all, that pagan superstition has a venerable history! Oh, and “taking the auspices” is a form of divination, a violation of the first commandment — it gives you something to confess when you go to be reconciled.

Pray, fast, love and be reconciled — because that is what the Church teaches you to do, not because stupid wild animals behave in exactly the way stupid wild animals should be expected to behave. Pray, fast, love and be reconciled — even better if you understand the Church’s reasons for teaching you to do this.

“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these [signs] begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.” Luke 21;25ff.

Would you deny the Supreme Pontiff his title because it was once pagan? Would you call Christ a liar? Would you deny that God would prepare the inhabitants of the earth for the Last Day? Would you deny Judgement itself?

How often have you seen doves attacked like this? Then, how often have you seen doves released by the Successor of St Peter attacked like this? Then, how often have you seen doves released by two Successors of St Peter attacked like this on the anniversary of the only other recorded attack? We read in the lives of the saints many accounts of the holy men and women of our faith taking seriously natural phenomena that could be interpreted as signs and wonders.

I will not judge you, for I fear Christ. I do not even know if you exist. But I know that I am not a pagan nor have I practised divination. In that sense, my conscience is clear.

“But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgement; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.” Mt 5:22

“We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” (1 Jn: 4:19-21)

May God be merciful to me a sinner.

        • Howard

You may not be a pagan, but you are acting like one by trying to read a miracle into something totally commonplace. The Augurs were pagan priests who watched the flight of birds to divine the will of the gods. This is exactly what you are doing. Not a single one of the Scriptures you quotes (and to which you seem to be giving your own private interpretations, just like a Protestant) says anything about a crow chasing a dove any more than it says anything about a dog chasing a cat. If you want to hyperventilate and look silly, be my guest.

Let me put it this way. Say tomorrow you see a cloud shaped like a throne. This gets you to thinking about Christ sitting on his throne at the Last Judgement, and that thought prompts you to go to Confession. The recollection of Judgement is good, and going to Confession is good. Would this then be a private revelation? Probably not. Should you tell anyone else about it? With the possible exception of your wife, and then without much emphasis: no. Not many people are going to be impressed with a cloud that sort of reminds you of a throne for a few minutes while seen from a particular vantage point until the winds reshape it. The Church will not bother investigating it. You should not NEED a private revelation to remember to go to Confession. This is too cheap and too commonplace to be of any public use as a miracle, even if it results in you receiving grace.

Read Sirach 34 for a similar warning regarding dreams, IN SPITE OF the fact that dreams have, on rare occasions, been used to deliver divine messages.

According to what I can find on Yahoo, a raven has 80 chromosomes and a seagull 82.

    80 = son of man
    82 = throne of God

It could just be hungry ravens looking for a meal and defending territory.

Or it could be like Obama having vermin show up around him on a yearly basis, including rodents and flies.

Then God planted the housefly (12 chromosomes) into the middle of his forehead, which he did not know was there, to mark him.

    Oh, the symbolism!!

  • paulquebrar

these are signs of the times…signifying that Francis is the ANTIPOPE prophesied by no less that St. Francis of Assisi! “In those days, God will not send a true pastor, but a DESTROYER!”-St. Francis of Assisi. Look at the heresies Antipope Francis are wreaking havoc to destroy the pure and holy Catholic Faith!

  • paulquebrar

this event also signifies that peace cannot reign under the apostasy of the Vatican II Sect, presently eclipsing the TRUE Catholic Church underground and in exile. watch out, the prophesies of the saints concerning the end of times are unfolding before our eyes! Apocalypse is underway, so let us true Catholics under Pope Gregory XVIII prepare!

But you are here at an allegedly untrue website because you need isolation which your posts always bring from people at such sites. Do you have the humility to seek therapy or do you have singularity which St. Bernard called a level of pride? The choice is yours.

      • paulquebrar

I happen to visit this website because as part of the Catholic Church Militant, comprising soldiers of Christ, it is our earnest duty to be on guard against the fallacies of the Modernists/Jewish-Freemasonic Satanic Novus Ordo Sect. As for your presumption (which is a sin against the theological virtue of hope by the way), that I have to seek therapy or pride, you just demonstrated the Modernist thinking of judging those who go against the flow. Pope St. Pius X condemned such philosophy. Please research Catholic teaching prior to the heretical Vatican II,and see for yourself and discover authentic Catholicism.

    • Liz

      Have you read this, paulquebrar?
Who is the new ‘Pope’ of the Palmarians?

  • yeshuarose

    • paulquebrar

His Holiness, Pope Gregory XVIII (not of the apostate Palmarian sect), upon his election to the papacy in a secret conclave, already fulfilled Russia’s consecration. Just look the occurrences in Russia, and it will appear that Russia is the center of Catholicism instead of the Vatican, which is already the seat of the Anti-Christ as prophesied by Our Lady of La Sallette and Our Lady of Fatima. The errors of the heretics have crept in the Novus Ordo Sect, most manifested by the Heresiarch Francis. But as St. Athanasius and St. Robert Bellarmine wisely counseled, though true Catholics are only a handful, they are still the true Church of God, and it is only granted to a few to know the whole truth.

      • yeshuarose

        Dear Paulquebrar,

I so much appreciate your trying to bring everyone to what you truly believe is the Truth, instead of selfishly holding on to it just for yourself.

Sometimes I feel like like “a wave of the sea
that is driven and tossed about by the wind” (in James), because I have been tempted at times to go in your direction.
I wandered for 33 years away from the Church that I grew up in (The Holy Roman Catholic Church) and was so extremely exhausted, discouraged and almost hopeless, praying for years that Jesus would bring me to my congregation. How could I possibly find the true Church? I am too little and not enough wisdom or time; I just knew that all the protestant communities were disgustingly weak without Mystery, Reverence, Sacredness and so shallow. All of them had no authority to tell them what was Truth. “The Holy Spirit speaking to them through Scripture” was their claim to authority, but what a confused authority to speak to them of so many different truths that they all disagree on. Well, the Holy Spirit is incapable of spreading confusion; that is the expertise of the devil. So…
In answer to my prayer, Jesus had His Holy Mother bring me back Home to Rome in so many ways. I was never more relieved or happy in my entire life. I didn’t have to question and wonder and evaluate everything religious anymore; I was in the Church that Jesus promised would never be prevailed against by hell and as much trouble as all the Judas’s in Holy Mother Church could and would cause, Jesus was there in His Divinity, drawing greater good from all of it. Jesus let Judas give Him the evil kiss of betrayal so that Jesus Body could be tortured and killed, but that greatest evil of all brought about the greatest Good of all. We are the Body of Christ Jesus; things won’t be different for us. Judas will still perform his evil and Jesus’ Body will suffer, but Satan will never prevail.
If we cannot trust Jesus with everything in His Holy Church, then we have no hope at all, and we insult Jesus. We are too little to always be evaluating everything in the Church to see if it is True or not. We have to trust Jesus at His Word, and to get us through anything and everything; we are His Body.
My Heavenly Mother brought me back to The Post Conciliar Church, and as hard as it is to swallow so many questionable changes, gratefully, I say “thank You Dear Mother, place me where You will and I will stay here and suffer in joy with You and Jesus”.
        God love you dear paulquebrar.

It means that crows and seagulls are aggressive birds who routinely beat up on smaller birds to chase them out of their territory. Both birds are also attracted to areas where people congregate, because of the food they will find there.

  • yeshuarose

  • John3:16

I believe the raven or crow is the companion to Wotan, an Aryan God of War. Look at what those Thor movies have stirred up against a man made religion of fear.

  • praisejah1992 praisejah1992

Pope Benedicts (previous pope) Dove got attacked by a seagull then he was forced to resign because of his exposed crimes against humanity and then was presented with an arrest warrant along with it.
Now Pope Francis’ Doves get Attacked,do we see a pattern here. Except something big to happen in the near future and watch prophecy unfold before your very eyes. The time has come.

  • Veronica Cross

    The symbolism is very clear:
The crow represents the devil or Satan who will soon manifest as the Anti-Christ.
The sea gull represents the false prophet who shall arise from the sea (Revelation 13 – Beast out of the sea). The white of the sea gull points to Pope Francis.
The doves represent both the Holy Spirit inherent in the Body of Christ and Peace in the world. The Body of Christ shall be both persecuted (maimed) and killed under the rule of the Crow (anti-christ) and Sea Gull (false prophet) and ultimately split in two.
The Good News – Jesus will soon return but only after the tribulation described above has occurred.
