Sam Rocha Votes for My Mom in the Great Les Mis Debate

Yes… I’ll be getting back to you on that whole Manti issue soon — I actually took a morning away from my desk to take a walk with a friend. Outside, with cold breezes and birds chirping and nothing beeping at me. Imagine that…

In the mean time, I have to point you to my fellow Catholic Channel blogger Sam Rocha’s stunning defense of my mom’s position on my new favorite movie, Les Miserables. To catch up on the great Les Mis debate, you’ll first want to review my post here, whereby I shamelessly ask my readers to gang up against my poor, defenseless mother and to convince her that I’m right.

Next, movie immediately to Sam’s blog, where in Les Miz Sux: In Defense of Lisa Hendey’s Mom he ardently argues Mom’s side of the debate. Sam’s a college professor and an incredible writer, so Mom’s found a superb ally, but I remain unconvinced.

But in the mean time, I think my Mom definitely will have a new favorite blogger here at the Catholic Channel, and it’s not me…

How perfectly sweet and fun this is, Lisa! Let the games carry on! And, of course, send my very best to your mother — who is always right.

Oh Sam, if you only knew how apt that statement is. She’s my greatest role model in life, and is practically perfect in every way, except for her bad taste in movies…

Gosh, it is horribly depressing…full of evil and despair and wicked people. But it’s also got Jean Valjean as a shining example of good and redemption! The end of the movie is so full of hope and triumph that it ought to make up for some or all of the darkness. I really need to re-read the book!
