Prayer Request

A reader writes:

I have a friend, a former Protestant clergyman, who has endured more troubles than any man deserves. He was received into the Catholic Church last year, and is now looking into some possibilities for volunteer work, or maybe graduate school. Please pray that he finds the direction he seeks, and that his many talents will be put to fruitful use for the benefit of others, and for his own physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Father, hear our prayer that he receive guidance and provision in Christ Jesus. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for him!

An easy one if he has any sales experience at all: Join the Knights of Columbus, then apply to be an insurance agent. They’re always looking for new field agents, especially right now when the order is growing like crazy. It’s not your typical insurance job either- more of a combination of insurance, financial planning, and funeral planning. There’s a lot of counseling involved, and it seems to me a former Protestant clergyman might have the skills needed.

I’ll definitely say one for him. When a guy has a bread-winning career as a Protestant minister and then finds the faith and has no choice but to convert to Catholicism…wow…what a sacrifice. Where do you go from there? Suddenly you’re just a layman in the pews looking for a job.

I know a Lutheran pastor…great guy…who is more Catholic than most Catholics I know. I know from speaking with him that he wants to convert…but is trapped in his job in order to be the provider for his family. What a terribly difficult position to find oneself in.

So yes. I’ll certainly say a prayer for this poor guy.

Holy Spirit, Beloved of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, Guide me,
Strengthen me, Console me. Give me Your orders, tell me what I should do.
I promise to submit to all that You desire of me and to accept all that you permit to happen to me. Let me only know Your Will. Amen
