Prayer Request

A reader writes:

I have been dealing for several years with chronic pain. Some treatments that have provided relief are only temporary and my doctors indicate that I cannot continue them indefinitely. I am now being referred to a comprehensive spine center. Please pray that these doctors/surgeons are able to find and effectively fix what appears to be a spine with multiple degenerative issues. I know this is a major issue for many people and I certainly have gained a greater sense of empathy for folks in similar situations. Prayers for me and my family would be greatly appreciated.

Father, hear our prayer for this man’s complete healing through Jesus Christ our Lord. Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for him.

Another reader writes:

I’d like to ask for prayers for my cousin and her son. My cousin is 44 years old, and is battling pancreatic cancer (stage 4) and is in a second round of treatment. Her 20 month old son, who has Down’s Syndrome, has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. It’s not uncommon for them to be in different hospitals at the same time for treatment. Please pray for them, her husband, and children as they deal with this. God’s will be done…

Father, hear our prayer for a double miracle of healing for this woman and her child and her child, and for grace, peace and strength for all who love them. Mother Mary, St. Luke, and St. Peregine, pray for them. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

    Dear Mark:
I just read your fine article on the latest absurd slant on Jesus. At age 76, and with a Ph.D., I’m reading almost exclusively books on Jesus (including Sheen, Sheed, Goodier, Guardini. Ben xvi).
Whom else would you recommend as having written a perceptive, non-cliched, insightful Life
of Christ? The more “literary’ and/or the more “historically aware” are my preference.
I thank you so kindly for your response addressed to my email address.

May He give us the grace to bear our pain, until He heals us fully, transfiguratively.
